I read in a Danish newspaper that today is the 15th anniversary since Denmark won the European Championship in football. This victory stands in the memory of many Danes as a historical, heroic feat, an accomplishment like (almost) no other, and many Danes can tell you exactly where they were when their country won and what they were doing.
I wonder how many of them remember that the only reason Denmark got to participate was because of the war in former Yugoslavia. Not surprisingly, I see no questions about this fact in the quiz on the Championship by the same newspaper.

“Not surprisingly, I see no questions about this fact in the quiz on the Championship by the same newspaper.” Det har jeg nu ellers set omtalt mange gange.
